Side Character Showdown Breakdown #3

Welcome Back Hero,

We have another round of matchups to talk about, and some upsets, at least what I think to be upsets, and a couple favorites doing what we thought they would.. Win.

Quota v Wolly Lop-Dragon: First off, let’s give a round of applause to WLD because this was a run that I do not think anyone saw coming. It was probably the performance of the tournament and has people really excited about the future of the Wolly Lop-Dragon. Unfortunately, they had to face one of the early favorites in Quota. WLD’s run is over with a decisive win from Quota, but the resolve that WLD showed during this tournament will not be forgotten or overlooked.

Climbers v. Baby Peng: If you sense a little emotion in my tone for this one, just know that I am potentially Baby Peng’s number one fan. The Climbers are a beloved group of characters in the journal and are a force to be reckoned with; so it is unfortunate that Baby Peng had to go head to head with them in this round. The Climbers edged our BB Peng with 51% of the vote, and really gave us potentially the best matchup of the tournament so far (I know I said that about Quorgs v. Broccules, but I am a victim of the moment). BB Peng will be missed, but the show must go on.

Twig v. Baby Trike: Our second matchups of the infant characters went very differently. Twig had been delivering some blistering performances in the early rounds, but this week they had to match up with one of the crowd favorites in Baby Trike. That being said, Twig held their own, but lost with Baby Trike earning 55% of the overall vote. The tides look good for Baby Trike in the future rounds, but let’s just hope they don’t take their foot off the gas.

Shadow Buddy v. Kuma: This is the most lopsided win of the week. Kuma has a strong following and even has some merch dedicated to their likeness (we made some stickers a couple years ago), but Shadow Buddy is a full blown main character. That energy came through this week, Shadow Buddy captures our hearts in The Hero’s Planner and it goes to show that it is paying off. Nice work Shadow Buddy… Nice work.

This week was the battle of the stars; which is to be expected at this stage of the tournament. Thank you all for following this tournament and giving us cool things to make blog posts about.

Kyle
